Thomas Chippendale (1718-1779) was a celebrated English cabinetmaker. His stylistic innovations were so widely followed in the wake of his craft that a whole general category of 18th century English furniture is still commonly classified under his name. While he based his work upon the Queen Anne and Georgian principles of sober design and thorough construction, and retained many of the early 18th Century details, Chippendale's distinction was to introduce many other external forms into his designs. Inspirations from Chinese, Gothic and Contemporaneous French Rococo styles are all apparent in his work.

Bösendorfer is as equally committed to the fundamental principles which informed Chippendale insofar as our pianos strive for a perfect union of unique, stylistic harmony and hand-crafted perfection. The Bösendorfer Chippendale allows one to pay homage to a super-fine aesthetic tradition in the home or concert space, and to savor those artistic subtleties reflected in musical joy and fulfillment.
