The Bösendorfer Artisan is itself a stunning work of art even before a single note has been played. As long ago as the second millennium BC, inlay work featuring geometric and figurative designs was produced in the Orient as a surface for precious and revered objects. Today, the remarkable inlayed case of the Artisan piano makes its own display of reverence. The design hallmark of Artisan is its floral ornamentation, worked by hand with a variety of precious woods such as pear-wood, cherry, walnut, aruba, mahogany and burl amboyna. Only through the combination of Bösendorfer's traditional methods of craftsmanship and piano making, coupled with the skills of cabinet makers passed down through the generations, is the masterwork of the Artisan possible.
